Kumihimo, the historic Japanese art of braiding, is something you can do today using a modern braiding disk. Kits, supplies, and books are here. You can make these braids your first day:
Use your finished braid for coiling on gourds, hanging gourd water bottles or canteens, or make the braid into a necklace to hold your gourd (or other) jewelry.
