All of these pens plug directly into the Detail Master woodburners and the Burnmaster woodburners, as well as the Mastercarver combo unit.
Each of these is a complete pen, with an integrated tip, handle, cord, and plug. We also include the rubber sleeve that is made to fit these pens. We recommend you consider using the sleeve if you expect to do a lot of close up woodburning (most will use it).
Here is what sets them apart:
We offer the following selection of pens (each tip is shown with two or three views):
| 3a. This pen is made from a finer wire than the other pens, and is in demand by artists who want to create fine lines. Use this for very detailed work where you want the smallest and subtlest of lines. | ![]() ![]() |
| 5a. We highly recommend this as your first pen. This pen is very versatile; it can cut a very tiny mark or glide into a graceful curve, or turn on its side to shade. It has the advantage of two rounded sides that gives twice the burning time before resharpening. Also, the rounded side allows the pen to contact the gourd over a wide range of angles yet still give a consistent line. | ![]() ![]() |
| 6a. The Scribe Pen. With a round tip, think of it as a bold ballpoint pen. Great for writing, signing your name, placing dots, and surface burning muted lines or shaded areas. The smooth point shape will not "snag" on gourd irregularities. | ![]() ![]() |
| 8a. A pen with a special purpose—shading without having to tip it on its side, as you do with others when you want to shade. With a sharp tip and a flat, offset surface, you merely hold the pen vertically, against the gourd, and you can shade small or large areas quickly. And, since the tip is pointed, you can shade right into a sharp corner. | ![]() ![]() ![]() |
| 10a. A very popular pen, many use it as their primary or only pen. It can draw lines of varying width with different pressures and speeds, and can be turned on its side to shade. The point lets you shade into sharp corners. Excellent for feathers and crosshatch shading. |

| 11a. Known as a spear tip, this has a flat, narrow shape. Sharpened on both sides to double the life between sharpening. It can woodburn line art, but it really shines when woodburning graceful gossamer curves. | ![]() ![]() ![]() |
| 20b. A scribe pen, similar in concept to the 6a, but smaller. Again, think of it as a fine tip ballpoint pen. You can write, sign your name, and draw fairly narrow lines, all on the surface of the gourd without cutting into it. | ![]() ![]() |
Our price includes the rubber finger sleeve. You can purchase additional sleeves on this site.
